Clovis Raymond, MD is a dual board-certified psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, with over 19 years of experience spanning public psychiatry, private practice, military service, and academic teaching. He currently serves as Chief of Psychiatry at a state psychiatric facility and as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University, where he teaches and mentors the next generation of clinicians. Dr. Raymond is the author of The Sparks That Endure: Why Our Core Human Drives Survive Mental Illness, a groundbreaking work that explores the enduring presence of fundamental human drives—such as intimacy, creativity, spirituality, autonomy, and meaning—even in the midst of severe mental illness. His work integrates neuroscience, trauma-informed care, and narrative practice to reimagine how recovery and identity are supported in clinical settings. In addition to his public sector leadership, Dr. Raymond maintains a private psychiatric practice and has served as a psychiatrist in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he developed expertise in resilience, trauma, and cross-cultural care. As founder of Clovis Raymond Group, LLC, he develops accredited CME programs, recovery-oriented workbooks, and clinical training tools designed to promote compassionate, culturally attuned, and enduring care across psychiatric systems.
